There are several different groups of long head people. They include Europeans, Mangbetu, East Asians, and Near-Easterns. Each group is unique because it has a distinct trait. Read the following articles to learn more about their long skulls: Long head people of Europe and Mangbetu.

European elongated skulls

While the origins and historical context of European-elongated skulls are not fully understood, researchers believe that the practice is an art form. They may be used to replicate the beauty ideal or identify group affiliations. The elongated skulls were common in eastern and southern Europe, and were most likely brought to Bavaria by the Huns.

Elongated, slender skulls were once quite common in the world. They may have even been prevalent as early as Late Paleolithic Period. Elongated skulls in Europe date back to the late Iron Age, Hun-Germanic Period. This practice has been documented in more than 200 cases.

Mangbetu elongated skulls

The Mangbetu are a group of agrarian people who live in the northeastern Congo. They are distinguished by their distinctive coiffure and long skulls. These sculpted skulls have a status symbol and are associated to higher intelligence. Skull elongation has been a tradition of the Mangbetu for many centuries. It was widely accepted as a beautiful and acceptable form of beauty.

Traditionally, Mangbetu wrap newborns' heads in a wrapper made of cloth. This is lipombo. As western civilization gradually swept over the region in the 1950s, the practice died out. Mangbetu culture is also well-known for its highly developed music and artistic skills. Mangbetu's harp was named in their honor and sold for more than $100,000 at an auction.

East Asian elongated skulls

Although there is not enough genetic data to prove East Asian ancestry from East Asian elongated brains, it does suggest that there may be a genetic link. Researchers compared the DNA found in bone fragments from graves to that of modern-day populations. The genetic profile of modern European populations in central and northern Europe was matched by 10 and 13 men with normal skulls, respectively. These individuals carried a high number of genes that are associated blue eyes and blond locks. Meanwhile, the genetic makeup of the elongated heads was very similar to that of modern peoples from southeastern Europe.

While the study is still in its early stages, the findings point to the existence of cranial reshaping as early as five thousand years ago. These findings provide new insights into Neolithic culture. These findings also indicate that the Neolithic culture was not restricted to Europe or Central Asia.

Near-Eastern elongated skulls

Near-Eastern elongated, human skulls from many cultures have been discovered all over the globe, including the Americas and the Far East. Some cultures use special hats and bandages to cause skull deformities in infants. They may also have altered their diet in order to avoid physical attacks.

Researchers have linked these abnormalities with ancestry from a wide variety of populations, including those from central and northern Europe and southern Asia. The researchers are unsure whether the abnormalities are genetically determined or accidental results of trauma to newborns.
